What an amazing day we had on Monday for our Binar Sports & Edith Cowan University Open day at the Joondalup campus.
After much planning throughout the year it was such a successful event to kick off our partnership.
The basic concept was to give Indigenous youth an introduction into possibilities of university pathways in the future, having some fun playing basketball, meeting some really cool people, testing themselves physically and learning in a fun environment.
The sport science team tested the kids in many categories including vertical leap and sprints the same as would be expected in AFL combines and some of our athletes actually beat some of their AFL hero's scores!
They also participated in cultural dance workshops, media workshops and many other things.
Bryce Cotton and Mitch Norton from the Perth Wildcats were also special guests and really went above expectations with how they engaged with our kids and definitely had some fun out there.
Every single participant got 2 free royal tickets to top it off!
2022 will be even bigger and better!
