YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Binar is not just a basketball club. We aim to help our players and community fulfil their potential in all areas of their lives including academic pursuits and employment. We believe that education is the key to opportunity. Our homework classes started after identifying that our students are not always comfortable raising their hand and asking questions in their school environment.

These classes grew from a handful of adult volunteers helping out at Adam's house to involving specialised tutors where children can receive individualised attention, assessment of learning difficulties, help with homework and gain confidence in their own abilities. We also now include art and cultural activities.

WHAT WE DO

  • Partnering with educators to deliver after-school programs.

  • Partnering with educators to identify, assist and support disengaged school students.

  • Encouraging youth to empower other youth through sharing their skills, knowledge & experience.

  • Stimulating interest in & facilitating introductions to tertiary education.

  • Creating employment opportunities for young adults through our Sports and Cultural programs.

  • Partnering with business, industry and job providers to refer young people transitioning to work.
