At Binar, we believe that the strongest future for our community is one that is built together, with the voices, knowledge and guidance of our Elders helping to lead the way.
Recently, we had the privilege of welcoming Aboriginal Elders from across our community to a special Elders Morning Tea, creating an opportunity to connect, share a yarn and talk about Binar’s work, our vision for the future and how we can continue to ensure our community’s needs remain at the heart of everything we do.
The morning provided a relaxed and welcoming space for everyone to introduce themselves, share where they come from and build connections over a cuppa and some morning tea. More importantly, it was an opportunity to listen, learn and gain valuable insight from the people whose knowledge, experience and perspectives are so important to our community.
During the gathering, Andrew shared a video and plans for the development of the Binar Community Hub, offering Elders an insight into the vision for this significant project and what it will mean for our community moving forward.
As Binar continues to grow and develop new programs, facilities and opportunities, it is essential that we remain connected to the people we exist to serve. Creating opportunities for our Elders to share their thoughts, offer direction and remain involved in our processes helps ensure that our work continues to reflect the priorities, aspirations and needs of our community.
Our Elders carry generations of knowledge, culture and lived experience. Their voices deserve to be heard, valued and included, not just in conversations about our future, but throughout the decisions and processes that help shape it.
We are incredibly grateful to all the Elders who joined us, shared their time and contributed to such a meaningful morning. Your presence, wisdom and willingness to yarn with us are deeply valued.
At Binar, we know that building a stronger future starts with listening to our community. We look forward to continuing these conversations, strengthening our connections and working together to create lasting opportunities for generations to come.
Together, we are building a future grounded in culture, connection and community.
